Lead Carpenter

Under broad supervision, to be responsible for and/or lead remodeling projects and assign work to a crew of remodelers.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project crews in carpentry work required for the maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings and structures.
  • Attention to detail. Perform duties with a high level of quality.
  • Communicate daily with clients to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Keep the jobsite clean and orderly at the end of day.
  • Perform ongoing quality checks, making corrections or requiring trade contractors to make corrections as necessary.
  • Assist in the supervision/operation of the shop and assigned personnel, as directed.
  • Preparation of estimates, daily work tracking, and change orders.
  • Coordinate the flow of jobs and maintenance requests between the field and office.
  • Be able to perform all duties of carpenter or finish carpenter, following recognized procedures/techniques for such work, as required.
  • Provide progress reports at company production meetings.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Ability to manage medium to large remodeling projects including but not limited to ordering product, deliveries, and subcontractors, plus schedule daily work processes during all project phases.
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with residential building codes.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate carpentery tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lay out construction, remodeling, and alteration work.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment, as necessary.
  • Supervisory ability.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
  • Remodeling skills and experienced required.
    • Rough framing: 2-5 years.
    • Finish carpentry: 5-7 years.
    • Painting: 2-5 years.
    • Window installation: 5-7 years.
    • Door installation, interior and exterior: 5-7 years.
    • Tile layout and installation: 2-5 years.
    • Flooring installation: 2-5 years.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of one or more other trades. (e.g., Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, etc.).
  • Willingness to keep informed of new materials and methods for remodeling of buildings and structures.
  • Knowledge of lumber take offs.
General Laborer
Nehmey Construction, Inc.

General Laborer

Full time, Monday – Thursday, 10 hour days, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Pay commensurate with experience.

Project Coordinator

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Complete installation and operational requirements by scheduling and assigning installation crews, following up daily on work progress.
  2. Maintain the integrated schedule, which includes all phases of installation and project construction.
  3. Schedule subcontractors work time and follow up on progress.
  4. Maintain customer communication to keep them informed of work schedules.
  5. Ensure availability of materials and services by communicating with vendors and subcontractors.
  6. Create takes offs, plus order materials and supplies.
  7. Coordinate material deliveries.
  8. Keep management apprised of job progress and issues that arise.
  9. Assist management in organizing work for upcoming projects.
  10. Assist and advise customers with product selection.
  11. Identify and implement process performance improvements and standardization pertaining to procedures and workflow.
  12. Create and maintain job binders that detail all aspects of remodeling jobs.
  13. Schedule initial inspections for building, plumbing, and electrical permits; communicate times and dates with field project leader.
  14. Initiate solutions when problems arise and take action to handle difficult situations in a timely and professional manner.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  3. Familiarity with estimating in QuickBooks
  4. Ability to manage medium to large remodeling projects including but not limited to assisting in ordering product, scheduling subcontractors and inspections, and serving as a customer point of contact.
  5. Effectively use strong oral and written communication, time, and project management skills.
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks independently and to accurately complete work.
  7. Must have experience and knowledge of the home remodeling process and materials used.
  8. Knowledge of and ability to comply with residential building codes.
  9. Supervisory ability.
  10. Fluent in English.
  11. Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
  12. Must have a clean driving record.
